The use of connectors such as SIM card holders has gradually become an indispensable electronic accessory in the electronic product industry. Card holder connectors are one of the commonly used connectors in mobile phones and computers, and SIM card holders are important accessories for mobile phone SIM card reading devices. Below, the Dongdu editor will talk about the performance indicators of connectors for everyone.

1. Characteristic impedance, like other microwave devices, is a very important indicator that directly affects standing wave ratio, operating frequency, and insertion loss. The common characteristic impedances of connectors are 5 Ω and 75 Ω.

2. As the name suggests, the contact resistance of an RF connector refers to the resistance at its contact point, specifically the contact resistance of the inner and outer conductors. Obviously, the smaller the value, the better, usually in the M Ω range, and the contact resistance of the external conductor should be lower than that of the internal conductor.

3. The lower cutoff frequency of the RF coaxial connector is zero, and its upper operating frequency is 95% of the cutoff frequency. The operating frequency depends on the structure of the connector. Generally speaking, the smaller the size of the outer conductor, the higher the operating frequency of the connector: the lower the electrical constant of the filling medium, the higher the operating frequency, and the lower the insertion loss. The maximum operating frequency of coaxial connectors can reach 110GHz

4. The connection torque of the connector is related to the mating torque of the connector. The indicators provided by Datong manufacturer are not completely consistent because they use different materials. The mating torque of stainless steel connectors should be greater than that of copper connectors. The greater the mating torque, the higher the durability of the connector.

5. Insulation resistance refers to the resistance of insulation materials, which depends on the insulation material inside the joint, such as polytetrafluoroethylene. The typical value of insulation resistance is greater than 5G Ω (N-type). When this indicator is not good, leakage current will occur.

6. Durability (insertion and removal life) of connectors: When a connector completes a complete cycle of engagement and disengagement with its standard connector, it is considered as one insertion and removal. In MIL-C-39012 standard, the insertion and removal life of RF connectors is specified. For N-type connectors, the insertion and extraction lifespan should not be less than 500 times per minute, assuming 12 insertions and removals per minute. After 500 insertions and removals, the connector should have no obvious mechanical damage and all mating functions should remain unchanged.

For testing cable components, the lifespan of the connector means that after completing the specified number of insertions and removals, the VSWR and plug losses of the cable component should still remain within the range specified in the product manual.
